Graduation Updates

Posted by on in Greenwood High School News
Senior students and parents.

We are excited to graduate the Class of 2020 this Friday evening, and we appreciate your support as we attempt to comply with the ever-changing restrictions on small and large gatherings. With that in mind, we have been required to make several changes to this Friday's ceremony.

Linked below you will find an updated version of our commencement plan. Please read and be prepared to follow the changes. We cannot stress enough how fortunate we are to be able to bring this class together and allow at least three guests to be in attendance. We ask for your patience and compliance in executing our plan.

Thank you, and we'll see you this Friday evening, on the football field, at 8:30pm.

Student Technology Device Information/Form

Posted by on in Greenwood High School News
A copy of yesterday's message from the District Technology Team:

As we prepare for next school year with COVID restrictions in place, we have to ensure every student has access to his/her own device at school and at home.  You have the option to rent a computer from the school corporation or bring your own (per specifications below).  If you choose to bring your own, you will receive a credit of $88 on your instructional fees.  Please submit the form below, once per student, to indicate your device access choice.  Thank you!

Welcome Greenwood Families

This is an exciting, yet challenging time in all of our lives, and we are well aware of the vast responsibility we have in helping your child to reach his/her potential both educationally (in-person and/or online) and socially. Hopefully, you have had a chance to read the Greenwood High School Roadmap that was emailed on 7/6/20. This roadmap was created to help you  understand how schools and families can work together during this unprecedented time. This year will not have the freshmen/new student orientation meeting instead we send a video with the relevant and important information later this month.

Registration Information

This year registration will take place entirely online beginning July 1. There will be computer access at the high school if you are in need of a computer. For students who live outside of our district and are not currently enrolled in Greenwood Schools, please complete the online Transfer/Non-Resident Student application. Upon registration, a minimum $50 payment will be required/accepted or you may pay your entire fee.   Payment may be made online through https://www.ezschoolpay.com.  There is a small service fee when using the online payment feature. We are requiring every student to have a computer/laptop/tablet (device) whether school issued or his/her personal device. GCSC/GHS Roadmaps to Re-entry

Posted by on in Greenwood High School News
Hello GHS families. We hope everyone is enjoying your summer. To be brief, you will find the following information in this email:
  1. GCSC (corporation) re-entry roadmap (attached)
  2. GHS re-entry roadmap (attached)
  3. Information regarding high school registration
Roadmaps:

Items in the GHS plan are addendums to the GCSC plan, so please read both. Both roadmaps respond to IDOE recommendations and have been approved by our local health department. If you have any questions, please email Assistant Principal, Craig Bruns at cbruns@gws.k12.in.us by Wednesday, July 8th. We will respond to your questions with another communication on Friday, July 10th.

Distance Learning:

The deadline to enroll in the distance learning option is July 17th. To enroll, please contact me at tgarrison@gws.k12.in.us by the 17th. Distance learning requires the following:
  • Students must be present (live) each day, each period. Students not logged in live will be counted absent.
  • Assignments, projects, and assessments will have strict deadlines, just like "in-person" school.
  • Once students begin distance learning, they will be required to remain in the program for the semester.
In general, please note this is not the same learning environment students experienced in the spring. Feel free to email me if you have questions.

HS Registration:

Tomorrow, July 7th, you will be receiving an email from GHS regarding registration. Please read as we have several changes.

We know opinions vary vastly, so please understand we are doing our best to balance all factors when developing a safe plan. As Dr. DeKoninck has stated several times, all plans are subject to change.

Thank you.  Continue reading
