These do not count toward the maximum 10 absences per semester, if the following procedure is followed: - Obtain a visitation form from Mrs. Shotts in the guidance office at least two days before your visit.
- While at the college/institution, an official must sign your Visitation form.
- Return the Visitation form to the attendance desk the day you return to school.
Military Recruitment

Students and families who need FAFSA assistance should note the following opportunities
- Financial Aid Night. GHS will host Financial Aid Night, with a presentation by INvestEd on November 2nd at 6:00 in the High School Auditorium. This presentation will cover the FAFSA, grants and loans, scholarships, and funding college wisely.
- Financial Aid Events will feature presentations and assistance by INvestEd. INvestEd is a free resource for Hoosier students and parents looking for help with college planning and financial aid. At INvestEd, we help families understand how to fund college wisely to help minimize potential education debt. https://www.investedindiana.org/

Students who are considering attending college are strongly encouraged to take the SAT and/or ACT in the spring of their junior year. They may then retake the tests if necessary during the fall of their senior year.

Notice: Both the ACT and SAT are now requiring students to upload a picture of themselves during online registration and provide an ID when checking in the day of the test. Please make sure ID is current and that both photos are similar in their resemblance to you. Testing administrators may turn you away if your ID is faded, outdated, or does not resemble you.All local scholarships will be posted in the Scholarship List available through you Family Connection account. Parents may select "I'm a guest" to gain access to the scholarship list.

Current Students should request their trancripts through their Naviance Student Account. No requests made through any other transcript site will be processed. Mrs. Laug is available for assistance during PowerHour-2 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays in the College and Career Center. - Student TutorsThe high school is currently looking for student tutors. If you are intersted in tutoring high school students, either for pay or community service, please see Mrs. Shotts in the guidance office. Successful completion of a course is a requirement to be a tutor.

Important information for Seniors
College Entrance Exams
ACT – The ACT is administered at various locations in September, October, December, February, April, June, and July. TSeniors who are planning to attend college and have not taken this exam or students who would like to retake the ACT should register at www.act.org .
SAT - The SAT is administered at various locations in October, November, December, March, May and June. Seniors who are planning to attend college and have not taken the SAT or students who would like to retake the SAT should register online at www.collegeboard.org.
College bound seniors who have not taken one or both of these exams should register immediately for the next available administration.
Applications- College and scholarship applications should be accessed online. After submitting a college application, students need to request that a transcript be sent to that college (see Transcripts below). Some colleges also require that ACT/SAT test scores be sent directly from the testing institution. Make sure to verify application deadlines to ensure that scholarship opportunities are not missed.
Transcripts- All transcript requests should go through the online request site Naviance Student. Instructions and guides can be found on the Senior Canvas Page. If you need assistance, please see Mrs. Laug.
FAFSA- Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The FAFSA is due by April 15. Every student should fill out the FASFA form, regardless of your financial situation.
Scholarships- Local schoarlships are posted on the Naviance Student website in the scholarship list.
College Visit Days - Students may take 2 to visit colleges. Students should obtain a form from the guidance office at least two days prior to the visit. When contacting a college to set up a visit, make sure you relate what it is that interests you about their school. Parents should plan on attending with their student, your observations and concerns are important! The college visit form must be signed by a representative from the college you visited and returned to the main office. Colleges also visit GHS. A list is posted outside the cafe with times and dates of visits.
