GreenMachine Robotics Team

Posted by on in Greenwood High School News
WAY back in September, we started a Robotics team at Greenwood. We've come a long way since then! In our rookie season. GMJr. won the "Rookie Sensation" award at their first meet, and GMSr. won the "Motivate Award" AND "Finalist Alliance RunnerUp" at the 2nd meet. We won the Compass Award, an award for a video explaining the importance of a coach, with Mr. Campbell as the subject. (The video was made by Michelle Kaufman). Michael Tam won the Dean's List Award, a very prestigious award. These honors were both from the Indiana State Finals Meet. More than that, we all learned many lessons about working together as a team....and some engineering skills. We met MANY wonderful people from other Robotics teams, and REAL engineers and professionals in the work force. Thanks to the team coach, Chris Campbell, the guest coach, Mr. Snodgrass from Center Grove, mentor, Tami Vest, and all of the other mentors and parents that helped in our rookie season. The team also provided a much needed hands-on involvement in the STEM areas. We would love to see this just be the beginning for our Greenwood Machine Team. For more information about the Robotics team visit:  http://greenwoodrobotics.com/ Continue reading

Student Drop Off/Pick Up

Posted by on in Greenwood High School News
Please remember not to drop off or pick up your child directly in front of the school nor complete a U-turn when exiting the parking lot.  Rather, please do one of the following:

1)  Turn left by the high school and proceed to the east side of the school (football field side by the student parking) to pick up /drop off.
2)  Or, turn right upon approaching the high school and circle around from the west end of the parking lot to pick up/drop off.

These actions will help improve traffic flow and most importantly help the safety of all individuals in the school parking lot.  Thanks for your cooperation! Continue reading

Chicago Shopping Trip

Posted by on in Greenwood High School News
CHRISTMAS IS AROUND THE CORNER...TIME TO SHOP!

Christmas is 9 weeks away so it's time for shopping.  And what more fun place to shop than Chicago.  So how about asking a few friends or members of your family to join you on a bus trip to Chicago for a day of shopping and seeing the holiday lights.  Relax on the way up, get dropped off right in the heart of Chicago, shop til you drop, and then get picked up for the return trip home.  It doesn't get any easier or more fun than that.  You have two weeks to reserve a spot so take a look at the information, ask some people and get ready for a holiday trip to remember.  Attached are both the  informational flyer and the registration form. Dress Code-Point of Emphasis

Posted by on in Greenwood High School News
Students and Staff: Due to some repeated violations of the dress code, the administration would like to remind you of a dress code specific and inform you of one disciplinary change. Sagging pants and/or shorts are not allowed and will not be tolerated. Beginning Wednesday (9/24), the disciplinary change will be that students will no longer receive a warning about violations to the dress code. This message serves as the warning. A first offense will result in a referral to the office and an after school detention and the second offense, as well as any additional ones, will result in a suspension from school. Also, any arguing or back talk to a teacher will increase the severity of the discipline. We have a great school and we recognize the overwhelming majority of students follow the rules. We hope all students will begin to consistently follow the rules so we can focus on the system of teaching and learning and celebrating your successes in the classroom and in the competitive arenas. Thank you for your cooperation. Continue reading
