Dress Code-Point of Emphasis

Posted by on in Greenwood High School News
Students and Staff: Due to some repeated violations of the dress code, the administration would like to remind you of a dress code specific and inform you of one disciplinary change. Sagging pants and/or shorts are not allowed and will not be tolerated. Beginning Wednesday (9/24), the disciplinary change will be that students will no longer receive a warning about violations to the dress code. This message serves as the warning. A first offense will result in a referral to the office and an after school detention and the second offense, as well as any additional ones, will result in a suspension from school. Also, any arguing or back talk to a teacher will increase the severity of the discipline. We have a great school and we recognize the overwhelming majority of students follow the rules. We hope all students will begin to consistently follow the rules so we can focus on the system of teaching and learning and celebrating your successes in the classroom and in the competitive arenas. Thank you for your cooperation. Continue reading

Suspicious bus stop behavior

Posted by on in Greenwood High School News
On September 5, 2014 Greenwood Police received reports of a man trying to lure children into

his vehicle while they were waiting for their bus at a bus stop. This occurred in the area of the

Summerfield Village neighborhood near Worthsville Road just west of US 31. The man was

described as an older white male and was seen driving an older light blue Chevy Camaro.

Greenwood officers located the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The police

officers identified the subject and questioned the man concerning the reported behavior.

During questioning, the man stated that he didn’t know it was illegal to stop and talk with the

children. The officers explained that the circumstances were inappropriate at the least and he

was told to stay away from the bus stops in the future.

The Greenwood Police Department is actively investigating this incident and, if deemed

appropriate, will request criminal charges from the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office. Our

officers will be conducting extra patrols of area bus stops for the next few weeks. Whiteland,

Greenwood and Center Grove schools have been notified and are taking appropriate actions. A

picture is attached of the vehicle.

No arrest has been made at this time. This notice is to make the public aware of this incident

and to have the children be aware of their surroundings when waiting for their buses. Citizens

are urged to call 911 to report any suspicious persons at or near bus stops. Continue reading
