Mrs. Slauter's Class Earns their First Fun Day in Art!

Posted by on in Southwest Elementary News
Ms. Webb uses a positive behavior system that allows classes to earn a "Fun Day" in Art class after earning 7 stickers on their class's chart.  The students typically choose the activity they wish to do on that day during art; like painting, drawing games, stations, working outside, etc.  Occassionally, students will request a "Ms. Webb Surprise Fun Day."

Mrs. Slauter's class voted for a surprise for their first fun day!  So each student received a mini pumpkin that they then were able to paint in any abstract manner they desired.  The results turned out so colorful and each pumpkin wonderfully unique!

Way to go Mrs. Slauter's Class!  Keep up the great behavior! Continue reading

International Day of Peace: Picture Order

Posted by on in Southwest Elementary News

International Day of Peace was a wonderful celebration again this year!  Art classes were filled with peace themed projects and pinwheels, in Gym students were working on sportsmanship and fun Peace Day facts, and our Media Specialist even jumped in to help with the singing portion this year!  Way to be a team player Mr. Corbin!

As part of our celebration, we formed a GIANT peace sign to perform the song "Funga Alafia" or "Welcome to Everyone"  A photographer from Lifetouch came out to photograph the event and now you can order a copy of the picture too!

Your student should have brought home an order form and you can order:

8x10 for $10
or
5x7 for $7

You can also see the pictures taken by the Daily Journal by clicking here.
